Independent Research Entry Dr. Dre

Dr.Dre

Kevin Ortiz

Dr.Dre is not the typical performer/Producer/businessman. Un like most rappers and producers money is not his main goal. He puts others in front of himself, and even his own album Detox.
Dre spoke a little about Detox in 2002; just saying it was a concept and was going to be his last album. We heard more about Detox in 2004. Dre was planning on dropping his final album in fall of 2005. As we all know this was not the case.
He started putting his album on the back burner the same time he started talking about the release of it. He took most of 2002 producing a well known album “Get Rich Or Die Trying” for rapper 50 cent. Keeping the status of Detox in the ruff draft stage.
Putting others in front of himself and his own album he put his Detox album on hold to produce 50 cents “before I self destruct” released November 16th 2009.
Another big album Dre produced instead of putting himself in front of anyone was Eminem’s album “relapse” he produced 19 of the 20 tracks on his album. This album was released may 19th 2009.
The albums and artistes I mentioned are just a small peace of his legend in production. This is what makes Dre not only good not only great but legendary. His name will live not only threw his music and his production but threw his helping hand he gave performers to make chart topping hits.
Listening to his music shows me how influential he was because he’s beats are amazing. His mixing and recording is so experienced everything is perfect.  His flow is so smooth and lyrics are always from the heart. Overall Dr. Dre is an amazing artist, engineer, and performer. I am still waiting for Detox to come and along with half the world. Hopefully the most anticipated album will not fail us. If it was not for Dr. Dre their would be no Eminem, 50 Cent, long with many other performers and artists.

  1. Kevin,

Your post on Dr. Dre shows great interest for the man, and I would have to agree with you that he is an amazing producer and artist. I remember back in the day when Dre use to work with 2 Pac and Snoop Dog on Death Row Records. Those were the good times and music tunes. Your explanation for his greatness could use a little more information. I mean he is an amazing role model for many producers and artist out in the industry today, but giving minimal information about the man won't do good for people new his style of music. Although, you did a great job with supplying facts and how he influenced you as a professional. Great work.
